Shop from scores of Train and Railroading images here. The part that railroads have played in the building of the United States, and the world, almost cannot be underestimated. The romance of early steam trains, and the modern monsters that they became before they were eclipsed and replaced by diesel power, is something that captivates me, and that I work hard to capture in my Train and Railroading Art.
Born into a railroading family - grandfather was a stationmaster, and uncle was a brakeman - I came by my love of trains quite naturally. I grew up in a house that was a stone’s throw from the tracks, and the freight trains of the Reading Lines, Penn Central and Conrail were my playmates in the daytime, and my crooners of lullabies by night.
I am captivated by the romance of the age of steam, delighted and amused by the highly decorated locomotives of the Gilded Age, impressed by the sheer size and might of the modern diesels, amazed by the infrastructure and motive power of the electrics, even drawn to the gritty, workaday world of the train yard - and one of my greatest pleasures is capture and convey all the things that move me about Trains and Railroading for the collectors of my art.
